Admission Rules for MBBS in India

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admission to the MBBS course in India must have completed 10+2 or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects. General category candidates must obtain at least 50% marks in PCB subjects, while reserved category candidates are given relaxation as per government norms.

NEET Qualification

Admission to all MBBS seats in India is based on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG). Candidates must qualify NEET by securing the minimum prescribed percentile announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) each year.

Age Requirement

Applicants must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the admission year. There is currently no upper age limit for appearing in NEET, subject to prevailing regulations.

Counselling Process

After NEET results are declared, eligible candidates must participate in the counselling process conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for All India Quota seats and by respective State Counselling Authorities for State Quota seats. Seat allotment is based on NEET rank, category, reservation policy, and seat availability.

Reservation Policy

Reservation of seats is provided according to the policies of the Government of India and respective State Governments. Categories such as SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwD are entitled to reservation benefits as per applicable rules.

Document Verification

Candidates must produce original documents during counselling and admission, including NEET scorecard, admit card, Class 10 and 12 mark sheets and certificates, identity proof, category certificate (if applicable), and other required documents.

Final Admission

Admission is confirmed only after successful seat allotment, document verification, payment of prescribed fees, and completion of medical college reporting formalities within the stipulated time.
