NBEMS administers Diploma courses in 8 disciplines of modern medicine through its accredited institutions. The duration of the course for Post MBBS candidates is for 2 years.
Admission and Counseling:
The Post MBBS trainees get admission to 2 years Diploma course after successfully qualifying the NEET-PG examination which is conducted by NBEMS. NEET-PG is conducted annually as per prescribed schedule.
The merit-based counselling for admissions to 2 years Post MBBS Diploma Programme after the conduct of NEET-PG is administered by the Medical Counseling Committee of DGHS, MoHFW, Govt of India along with the counseling for admissions to various MD/MS/PG Diploma courses.
Registration as NBEMS Diploma Trainee:
Registration as NBEMS Diploma Trainee: After opting for a NBEMS Diploma seat for the 2-year diploma courses, the trainee is registered with NBEMS for Diploma training in respective courses.
The eligibility of the trainee for NBEMS Diploma programme is determined on the basis of prescribed criteria in the information bulletin for NEET-PG examination. On successfully meeting the criteria and submission of required application with prescribed documents to NBEMS, the trainee gets registered with NBEMS. A letter to this effect in the form of a “Letter of Provisional Registration” is communicated to the trainee and his/her training institution.
NBEMS Leave Rules and Stipend:
The training of the NBEMS Diploma trainees is governed by a set of NBEMS leave rules. All Diploma trainees are advised to be thoroughly acquainted with the prescribed rule for availing leave during their diploma course because excess leave availed by them over and above the prescribed leave shall lead to extension of their training. This extension might even affect the eligibility of the trainee for NBEMS Diploma Final Examinations in case the extended training goes beyond the prescribed cut-off date for completion of training. Excess leave beyond a prescribed limit may even cancel the registration of trainees for the course.
All Diploma trainees are paid a minimum stipend as per guidelines prescribed by NBEMS. The trainees are paid stipend for the entire duration of training including their eligible leave as per NBEMS leave guidelines. However, they shall not be paid stipend for a period more than 24 months if in case their training gets extended due to excess leave availed by them.
Curriculum and Training:
During the NBEMs Diploma training, the trainees are posted to different areas of the specialty concerned as per the guidelines prescribed in the curriculum for that specialty. Detailed course structure, training areas to be covered, posting schedules, syllabus of examination etc are published in DiplomaProgramme-specific curricula.
All NBEMS Diploma trainees are provided with the training by the respective training institute as per prescribed curriculum. The training institution shall conduct the academic teaching and training including the bedside teaching, if applicable, as per prescribed guidelines of NBEMS. The trainees are required to maintain an e-log of cases observed/attended; Journal Clubs/Seminars attended/presented etc as per the format specified in their e-Doctor Log book. A regular review of the said e-logbook by the mentor/guide of the trainee is a mandatory requisite.
